Claire Smith

 

Claire Smith is an award-winning, Walkley nominated filmmaker specialising in documentaries about human and planetary health. She has spent more than a decade developing, directing or producing documentaries for major platforms such as Netflix, Channel 4, ABC, SBS, and Discovery. Claire was a Writer and Development Producer on the acclaimed Australian feature Franklin, and wrote and directed the feature-length documentary The Deepwater Disaster, which examined the devastating BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Her producing credits include Channel 4’s Australia on Fire, ABC’s Ask the Doctor, and several episodes of ABC’s flagship science series Catalyst. She has also directed over 20 hours of true crime content for US networks. Beyond her broadcast work, Claire is driven by a commitment to environmental story-telling and creates short films for the global literary initiative Letters to the Earth.
